Minority blames Congress, AUDF for vote bank

Guwahati, Apr 22 (UNI) The Minority Legal Right Protection Committee (MLRPC), Assam, today blamed both the Congress and the Assam United Democratic Front(AUDF) for using the minorities as 'vote bank'.

Addressing a press conference here, MLPRC Working President Ali Akbar Miyan, a former MLA, said if the Congress was giving 'false' promise of minority development, the AUDF has 'completely failed' to address the problems of the minorities.

Mr Miyan said even the detailed report of Assam agitation was never published, hiding the facts about the exact number of casualties. He regretted that even 23 years after the end of that violent agitation, the state government never bothered to make it available.

Mr Miyan and General Secretary Moon Choudhury demanded the release of the detailed list of those who suffered during the agitation and compensation worth Rs 2 lakh. They also demanded the release of the Tewary Commission report.
