Lotus Eyecare hospital to raise Rs 42 cr thru public issue

Coimbatore, Apr 22 (UNI) The city-based Lotus Eyecare Hospital will come out with a public issue to raise Rs 42 crore as part of expansion to set up two more hospitals in tier II cities with project cost totalling Rs 55 crore soon.

Hospital Chairman S K Sundramoorthy told UNI that they were awaiting permission from SEBI in respect of the public issue.

Elaborating the project cost, Dr Sundramoorthy said apart from mobilizing Rs 42 crore from the public, they were planning to raise a loan of Rs ten crore and remaining Rs three crore locally.

The hospital with branches in Salem and Tirupur, has entered into the Limca Book of Records for conducting "Eye Trendz 2006" international conference in Ship, he claimed.

He said the hospital was running a college offering BSc in optometry for under graduates in collaboration with Alagappa University, Karaikudi.

Besides this, the hospital offers Diploma in National Board (DNB program) for ophthamologists and other short and long-term training programmes, he added.

He said the hospital had successfully carried out more than 65,000 surgeries, including highly complicated ones, besides 10,000 surgeries free of cost to poor patients.
