EVMs to be deployed on random basis: CEO

Bangalore, Apr 22 (UNI) In yet another attempt to ensure free and fair elections and prevent tampering of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during next month's polling to the Karnataka Assembly, the State Election Commission has decided to supply EVMs at random to polling stations on the lines of deployment of polling officers, Chief Electoral Officer M N Vidhyashankar said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that EVMs would be randomised on the basis of each constituency as well as polling stations.

''The process of randomisation of EVMs are being done for the first time in Karnataka to ensure holding of free and fair elections,'' he added.

The authorities concerned have completed the process of certification of EVMs which would be installed in all the 224 Assembly constitutencies during the poll.

The EC has instructed completion of the process of randomisation in the presence of the representatives of political parties and election observers, he added.

Change in group not to deter Tehran's policy: Iran
