Court orders FIR on Pondy Under Secretary

Puducherry, Apr 22 (UNI) A local court today directed the Grand Bazaar Police to register a FIR against Under Secretary Kannabiran on a petition filed by Mr Janakiraman Reddiyar of Koodapakkam seeking to register criminal cases against the Chief Minister, the then Chief Secretary and Mr Kannabiran.

Admitting the petition, Chief Judicial Magistate Kaliyamurthy directed the police to register a FIR against Mr Kannabiran alone and conduct investigations. Nothing was mentioned in the orders about the other two persons.

Mr Reddiyar claimed Chief Minister N Rangasamy, the then Chief Secretary, Mr C S Khairwal, and Under Secretary Kannabiran had regularised the services of 96 temporary employees at the office of the Council of Ministers despite a Madras High Court stay order.

Maintaining this amounted to criminal offence, Mr Reddiyar sought to register criminal cases against the three.

The petition filed earlier at the Court of the Principal District and Sessions Judge was returned to Mr Reddiyar by the Judge suggesting certain amendments before filing the case in the appropriate court.
