JEE exam cancelled following leakage of question papers

Kolkata, Apr 19 (UNI) Joint Entrance Examination Board(JEE) today cancelled tomorrow's examinations for entry to engineering and medical courses in West Bengal following leakage of question papers in Kharagpur.

JEE Board Chairman Siddhartha Dutta said the examinations would be held on a revised date at least after a month.

'' A high level meeting of the board decided to cancel tomorrow's examinations. It will take about 30 days to conduct the examinations on a revised date, '' he said hours after police arrested a person at Kharagpur in West Midnapore district for selling question papers of JEE, 2008.

The Government ordered a CID inquiry into the incident and a special team of sleuths would start investigation tomorrow.

The Board Chairman said the leaked questions were of Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers.

'' The seized papers are not original, but dummy question papers.

However, the Board found them to be exactly the same as those which were supposed to be served in examination halls tomorrow, '' he said.

A Midnapore report said many students, who admitted to have bought the papers, said each set was being charged at exorbitant prices.
