Homeopath refuses to administer polio drops to his grandson

Kendrapara, Apr 19 (UNI) Claiming that homeopathy system of medicine has the remedy for polio, a homeopath prevented health workers from administering polio drops to his grandson.

Dr Nityananda Sahu, a homeopath of Ichhapur in the district, did not allow the health workers recently to administer polio drops to his grandson Rudranarayan.

The health workers were part of a statewide special campaign launched by the state government to eliminate the disease after a couple of fresh polio cases were reported in Bhubaneswar recently.

The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO)and the District Magistrate Kasinath Sahu tried their best to convince the homeopath doctor to allow the health workers to administer the drop to the child but failed.

The District Magistrate said he would take up the matter with the Health Secretary.
