HC issues notice to Min of Petroleum on shortage of LPG cylinders

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Ministry of Petroleum, Ministry of Home Affairs and State Ministry for Food and Supplies to reply to a writ petition filed by a journalist seeking redressal to the problem of shortage of LPG cylinders in the capital.

A Bench headed by Justice Manmohan Sarin last week directed the respondents to file their reply as what measures are being adopted by them to curb the illegal selling of LPG cylinders in the market.

A writ petition was filed by one Sanjay Tiwari Ujala stating that some gas agencies in the capital have connived together to create a false shortage of LPG cylinders in the market by getting into the illegal practice of selling LPG cylinders at exhorbitant prices thereby creating panic among the consumers.

Though the petitioner has named many gas agencies involved in the illegal practice, the Court has asked him to furnish more evidence against these agencies along with the name of their parent LPG company.

ONGC commences II phase of redevelopment of Mumbai High South

Mumbai, Apr 19 (UNI) The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) today commenced drilling in the second phase of redevelopment of Mumbai High South, being taken up at a cost of Rs 6,339.20 crore and to be completed by 2012. Briefing newsmen after launching the redevelopment process, ONGC Chairman R S Sharma said the redevelopment would enable ONGC enhance oil production from the Mumbai High South to 180,000 barrels per day from the current 150,000 barrels.....

RJD demands compensation for cracker factory blast victims

Patna, Apr 19 (UNI) The RJD has expressed sorrow over the death of eight people in a blast in a cracker factory in Jehanabad district today and demanded that the Bihar government pay Rs five lakh as compensation to the next of the kin of each victim.
