Gangster surrenders before police in West Champaran

Bettiah, Apr 18 (UNI) A notorious gangster Harihar Yadav surrendered before the Police Superintendent at Bhakhar village under Bhogapatti Block in West Champaran district today.

The gangster also surrendered his countrymade rifle and 30 live cartridges before police.

District Police Superintendent K S Anupam said Harihar was wanted in connection with more than 37 criminal cases, including murder, extortion and kidnapping.

'' Police are carrying out special drive to encourage the criminals to surrender and abide by the law, '' Mr Anupam said adding it would help bring them into mainstream of the society.

Lucknow, Feb 13, (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Government on Friday presented a surplus budget of Rs. 1,33,596.98 crore for fiscal 2009-10.The budget estimates are 19 percent more than the previous year.The proposed expenditure stands at 1,33,596.98 crore, as against an estimated income of Rs. 1,21,502.96 crore.After taking Rs. 12,215 crore from the public accounts and the previous year's balance of Rs. 1,231.75 crore, the State Government has shown an estimated surplus of Rs. 1,352.73 crore. Umroi, Jan 25 (ANI): Voting has begun for the assembly by-election at Bhadohi reserve segment in Sant Ravidas Nagar in Uttar Pradesh this morning.The polling will decide the fate of sixteen contestants. The main contenders are from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Samajwadi Party (SP), Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).Three hundred sixty five polling booths have been set up for three lakhs forty five thousand voters to cast their votes. One hundred fifty three polling booths have been identified.....

Hoax call causes panic in Uttar Pradesh Assembly
