Cooperative societies plan to conduct series of agitation

Puducherry, Apr 19 (UNI) The Confederation of Puducherry state Cooperative Societies Employees has chalked out a series of agitations to draw the attention of the government to the problems faced by cooperative employees.

Addressing a press conference here today, Federation Convenor Raghuraman said several cooperative societies had became sick because of lack of funds and commodities to sell.

Cooperative institutions were not able to compete with high-tech private departmental stores, he said, adding many societies were not able to pay salary to their employees properly.

Stating that the government was not taking care of cooperative institutions, he alleged that the administration was extending a huge financial support to textile mills and sugar mills.

The Federation would organise three dharnas, infront of the Cooprative department on April 22, in front of Chief Secretariate on April 29 and infront of the Legislative Assembly on May two, he added.
