Pune, Apr 19 (UNI) The traffic got disrupted today and commuters found it difficult to reach Mumbai and Pune, after a container on way to Pune overturned at Khandala Ghat late last night.
State Highway Police told UNI that the container overturned at 2330 hrs and a 50 tonne crane was required to lift it. Since, the traffic was heavy, the crane could not reach the spot as early as possible, they added.
No casualties were reported. The cause of the accident was not known immediately.
Meanwhile, traffic has been diverted on National Highway number four near Walval. The traffic was moving at a snail's pace to the extent that the delay could be more then more than seven to eight hours.
Though no decision to close the Expressway has been taken, there might be a need to do one for sometime after the crane reaches to speed up clearing of the road, police stated.
