BJP candidates file papers for Delhi Cantonment election

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) BJP candidates today filed their nomination papers for elections to the Delhi cantonment Board, to be held after a gap of ten years.

Party candidates for all the eight wards of the board filed their nominations in the presence of Delhi Pradesh BJP President HarshVardhan, local MLA Karan Singh Tanwar and thousands of party workers.

The candidates who filed their nomination papers are Brijesh Tanwar - ward 1, Pradeep Kadiyan - ward 2, Sanjeev Nayyar - ward 3, Neelam Devi - ward 4, Lal Chand Mehraoliya - ward 5, Neena Sharma - ward 6, Anupama Tripathi - ward 7 and Deshraj Ahuja - ward 8.

Addressing workers present on the occasion, Dr HarshVardhan said the throat of democracy was choked by the Congress for the last ten years in Cantonment Board.

''Now the Congress has agreed for the election due to continuous agitation by the BJP,''he said adding that the Cantonment Board election would be the pre-semifinal.

''The BJP will play the semifinal against the Congress in the Assembly election and rid the people of the country from the Congress misrule while playing the final next year,''Dr Harshvardhan said.

Alleging that the Congress had done nothing to give relief to the price-rise ridden people of the Board, the Delhi BJP chief promised that the BJP would leave no stone unturned for the all-round development of the area.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Karan Singh Tanwar said the Congress had been putting off the election of the Board for the last ten years to save itself from defeat.

He had to resort fast unto death agitation for the election.

The Congress had forcibly imposed their representatives on all the eight wards for the last three years.

Mr Tanwar alleged that 60 thousand voters and three lakh citizens are living in pitiable conditions in Cantonment Board inspite of the regime of the Congress in the Board, Delhi and the Centre.
