Youth and experience makes for a good team: Kallis

Bangalore/Mumbai, Apr 16 : South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who is in Bangalore for the Indian Premier League (IPL), has said a perfect blend of youth and senior players would provide the right combination for the Twnety20 format.

"We have got a good mix of some good young guys and obviously some experienced international players. I think we have got an exciting side that's got lot of experience and youth, which is the basic combination for a good side," Kallis said.

Kallis is a member of the Bangalore Royal Challengers.

Vijay Mallaya bought the Bangalore team for 111.6 million dollars. Rahul Dravid is the skipper. The team includes international names like Mark Boucher, Nathan Bracken, Cameron White and Misbah ul Haq.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has said that the 'Mumbai Indians' would need to work hard for victory.

"We need to work hard in practices and even in the matches. We got a very good all round team, so we need to workout our game plan. When we go into the middle, we need to work out the way like what we should do" he said.

The most expensive team in IPL 'Mumbai Indians' will be featuring Sachin Tendulkar as the icon player and captain of the team.

Mukhesh Ambani's Reliance Retail spent US 111.9 million dollars to get the Mumbai franchise.

The IPL is a new concept of the BCCI for playing Twenty-20 cricket along the lines of the English Premier League and the National Basketball Association in the US.

The championship will feature eight franchisee teams of the IPL -- Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mohali and Mumbai to vie for the cash rich trophy.

During the IPL Twenty20 league tournament, 59 matches will be played over a span of 44 days, starting April 18.
