SDI to provide soft skills training to ITeS firms in India

New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) UK-based IT service and support services firm Service Desk Institute (SDI) today launched its operations in the country in a marketing partnership with Prometric.

''SDI training and certification aims at helping the existing human resource to scale up and meet the global standards in soft skills space,'' company Founder Howard Kendall told reporters here.

Its clientele includes BBC, Mercedes Benz, Nestle, O2 and Barclays, he added.

Nasscom estimates the revenues from the Indian IT industry to exceed 60 billion dollars, employing 2.3 million graduates by 2010.

''India's ITeS industry is already training its people on voice and accent, domain and technical skills, but there hasn't been any stress on developing soft skills. This global standard on soft skill training and certification is what SDI is bringing into India,'' Mr Kendall said.

SDI will offer three levels of qualifications (Training and Certifications), namely SDI Service Desk Foundation, SDI Service Desk Analyst and SDI Service Desk Manager at all Prometric centers across India.

''Prometric's worldwide relationship for exam delivery has expanded in India to providing marketing support for all SDI Training and certification through its partner network. Candidates have an option to sit for the certification exam at the partner's site or at any of the 450 authorized Prometric Testing Centers available across 90 cities in India,'' MD (Prometric India) Soumitra Roy said.

Prometric, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ETS, its services, including test development, test delivery and data management capabilities, allows clients to develop and launch global testing programs as well as accurately measure program results and data.
