Pappu's petition challenging lifer admitted in Patna High Court

Patna, Apr 16 (UNI) Patna High Court today admitted the petition of incarcerated RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, challenging the life term awarded to him by special CBI court of Patna in connection with murder of former CPM MLA Ajit Sarkar.

A division bench comprising Justice Mridula Mishra and Justice S K Sinha admitted the petition of RJD MP from Madhepura, while petitions of other convicts - former MLA from Govindganj Rajan Tiwari and Anil Yadav, challenging the life term awarded to them by the CBI special court of Patna, had already been admitted by the Patna High Court.

Earlier, CBI special court of Patna had awarded life sentence to all the three convicts on February 14 this year in connection with murder of former CPM MLA Ajit Sarkar, who was shot dead in Purnea district of Bihar on June 14, 1998.
