Nationals Games 2011 in Goa may be deferred to 2013: Kamat

Panaji, Apr 16 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat today said the National Games 2011 alloted to Goa by Indian olympic Association (IOA) may be deferred to 2013.

Speaking to mediapersons here today after the cabinet meeting, Mr Kamat said the National Games alloted to Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh have also been deferred.

Jharkhand National Games, which was scheduled for 2007, will be held this year while Uttar Pradesh National Games is likely to be held in 2010. After two national Games, at Jharkhand and UP, will be Goa's turn, Mr Kamat said.

When asked about the signing of host city contract, the Chief Minister said an amount of Rs 25 lakh, as bid amount for the National Games, has already been paid to the IOA and soon a contract will be jointly signed between the state government, Goa Olympic Association and Indian Olympic Association.
