Maxicon to launch Myanmar-India-Bangladesh direct service

Hyderabad, Apr 16 (UNI) Maxicon Container Line Pvt Ltd, a division of city-based Seaways Group, will launch a direct Myanmar-India-Bangladesh service, with the first cargo vessel the 852 TEU capacity, ''MV Marina Star 2'' embarking on its maiden voyage to Chennai from Yangon on April 21.

The next vessel of 1118 TEU capacity, ''MV Emirates Gondwana,'' planned for the first week of May, will connect Yangon directly to Nhava Sheva (Mumbai) and call on Colombo/Chittagong port in the return voyage, according to a statement here.

The direct service will significantly help reduce the transit time and provide regular services to both East and West coasts of India.

''MV Marina Star 2'' will provide thrice a month connection to the East Coast of India, while ''MV Emirates Gondwana'' will provide fortnightly connection to the West Coast.

Foundation stone for Madurai IT park soon: Karunanidhi

Chennai, Apr 16 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today told the state Assembly that the foundation stone for a new IT park in Madurai would be laid in the next few weeks. Replying to supplementaries raised by Mr Nanmaran (CPI-M) during the question hour, he said efforts were being taken through the ELCOT to set up IT parks in Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Salem and Tirunelveli. The foundation stone had been laid for IT parks.....

Maharashtra govt to seek restoration of medical seats

Mumbai, Apr 16 (UNI) The Maharashtra government will seek central government's help to restore seats in post-graduate medical courses across the state, Minister for Higher and Technical Education Dilip Walse Patil informed the state legislative council today. While taking serious note of the reduction in medical seats in the state, Patil said he will meet the Union Health Minister A Ramadoss in this regard, with a request to restore the same. Cloth godown gutted in major fire at Dadar

Mumbai, Apr 16 (UNI) A major fire gutted a cloth godown in Dadar area of the metropolis today, fire brigade sources said. As many as eight fire tenders have been pressed into service to control the blaze. The fire could have been caused by a short circuit, sources added. UNI JN GR NM ARB KN1640.....
