Left, UNPA to hold demonstration in Lucknow

Lucknow, Apr 16: After holding joint demonstration against price rise near Parliament, United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) and Left parties will hold a similar agitation here on April 23.

According to sources, several senior Left and UNPA leaders would participate in the demonstration to target the Centre and the Mayawati government in the state.

During the day-long demonstrations to be held in number of areas in the state capital, the leaders would also address two public meetings.

The joint forum of the Left and UNPA would rake up the issue of price rise with protest against the BSP government in the state during their agitation.

Samajwadi Party leaders, the prominent partner of the UNPA, alleged that blackmarketing was rampant in the state during the BSP regime, while introduction of VAT had increased the rate of all essential commodities.

Lucknow, Mar 15: Even as the nominations for the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections have started, the ruling Samajwadi Party and the Congress lagged behind in announcing the candidates for the crucial seven-phase polls.Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has taken the lead in declaring the candidates releasing list of all 403 candidates in one go, the practice normally followed by the party in the past also.The SP has declared most of the first phase.....
