Left plans protest against price hike from tomorrow

Imphal, Apr 16 (UNI) The Communist Party of India, along with the other Left parties in Manipur, will protest against the escalating prices of essential commodities on April 17 and 18.

According to a party statement here today, the CPI here, with the Manipur Loumee Lup, All Manipur Nupi Marup, AITUC Manipur, AIYF and AISF will be organising protest rallies in the state.

Tomorrow, sit-in protests will be staged at Porompat and Keishampat Lairembi Lampak, while on April 18 it will be held at Moirang Lamkhai, Nambol, Thoubal parking and Kakching.

Former Minister Dr M Nara said that the Sixth Pay Commission will benefit only the rich people.

The Left had set April 15 as the deadline to reduce the prices, however, the Central Government had failed to to do the needful, he added.
