JK bans export of brown, sarbati, coarse rice

Jammu, Apr 16: The Jammu and Kashmir government has imposed ban on the export of brown (unpolished), Sarbati and Coarse rice from the state, official sources today said.

The decision was taken keeping in view the hike in prices of food grains, edible oils and fresh vegetables in the state, at a high level meeting held here yesterday under the chairmanship of Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din.

Except basmati rice, all essential commodities including paddy, maize, bajra would be restricted to export under the food control order and Essential Commodities Act, sources said.

The meeting also decided that the business establishments, including wholesalers, retailers and greengrocers have to display the price of articles on boards, besides stock position.

The Minister said the Enforcement Squad of the department and police would check the business establishments falling under their jurisdiction regularly. Legal actions would be initiated against the erring shopkeepers and black-marketers, he added.

India, Pak Auditors General discuss cooperation

New Delhi, Mar 13: India and Pakistan today agreed to strengthen cooperation between the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) of the two countries in areas of public audit and accounts. Pakistan's Auditor General Mohammed Yunis Khan, currently on a five-day visit o India, met Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vijayendra Kaul and discussed with him ways to strengthen cooperation between the SAIs of the two countries. Mr Khan who arrived here yesterday, also met senior officials.....
