HJC (BL) lashes out at Congress statement against Bhajan Lal

Ambala, Apr 16 (UNI) The Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) today threatened to take to the streets, if any attempt to arrest its leader Bhajan Lal was made by the Congress government headed by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Party media incharge R S Mann, while interacting with media here, lashed out at the Congress for Haryana Irrigation Minister Capt Ajay Yadav's reported statement that Mr Bhajan Lal might be jailed after the review of the 1994 Yamuna Water Agreement, under which the share of water to Haryana was reduced when Mr Bhajan Lal was the chief minister.

''There is no justification to dig out a case after 14 years holding Bhajan Lal responsible for the lapse and the HJC partymen would rally round him to protect him'', he asserted.

Mr Mann alleged that the setting up of a committee by the Haryana Assembly to go into various aspects of the Yamuna water accord of 1994 was aimed at ''tarnishing'' Mr Bhajan Lal's image since he had formed a new party threatening the existence of the ruling Congress in the state.

He also claimed that the state government was ''frustrated by the increasing popularity HJC leaders Bhajan Lal and his son, Kuldip Bishnoi and so was out to damage their image''.
