Flesh trade racket busted in a Mukerian hotel

Hoshiarpur, Apr 16 (UNI) With the arrest of 8 persons, including 4 women, police here today claimed to have busted a flesh trade racket, being operated in a hotel at Mukerian.

According to the police sources, acting on a tip-off, ASI Baldev Singh was sent as a decoy customer, along with a Head Constable as a witness, to a hotel in Mukerian town after providing them with signed currency notes of Rs 500 denomination.

After receiving signal from the Head Constable Narinder Singh, police party headed by Inspector Madan Lal raided the hotel and arrested owner of the hotel Jatinder Singh, alias Jolly, manager Birbal, alias Monu, four alleged prostitutes and two customers.

The currency notes paid by ASI Baldev Singh to Birbal to ''strike the deal'' were also recovered.

A case under sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Suppression of Immoral Traffic in Women and Girls Act, 1956 has been registered against them.
