CPI demands probe by HC judge into central jail affairs

Puducherry, Apr 16 (UNI) CPI Puducherry Secretary Na Ra Kalainathan today demanded a probe by a High Court Judge into the affairs of the Central Prison here.

Addressing a press conference here, he said several inquiry commissions were constituted to probe the incidents inside the prison, but none of the reports was published. An inquiry by a High Court Judge would bring out many facts, he said.

Taking exception to the jail employees bringing out posters against him, Mr Kalainathan said it was the duty of a Legislator to inform the Assembly about the drawbacks in the functioning of government departments. He also said whatever he submitted on the floor of the House were true.

He alleged that the administration had failed to curb the skyrocketing price of essential commodities and the ration shops here were functioning for namesake.
