3 Nigerians arrested; Gang of international cyber cheats busted

New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) Police today claimed to have busted a gang of international cyber cheats with the arrest of three Nigerians from the national capital.

Shaheed Alli Olayiwala, Adewale Adeniyi Isiak alias Kenny Roland and Ismail Ayodele Keyode were arrested on April 11 from Neb Sarai.

Police recovered a laptop, five mobile phones, six fake passports and other incriminating documents from the accused.

''All the accused were staying illegally on fake identity,'' they added.

During interrogation, police said the accused revealed that the racket has its roots in Nigeria and it is fragmented into small groups which connive with each other to cheat people.

The accused said they collected e-mail IDs of people on the net which they pass on to another group for money.

''They used to tell people that they won lotteries and send then mails to this effect. When they would show interest for delivery of the amount they used to charge them money for processing fee, affidavits, delivery charges and other paper work,'' police said.
