Patient dies for medicines

Gaya, Apr 14 (UNI) Penniless Ramsharan Shao, admitted to Magadh Medical College and Hospital for treatment, died for the want of medicines --for which he was forced to beg--five days after being admitted to the hospital, locals and police said today.

Fifty-year-old Ramsharan Shao, belonging to Sherpur village, was a diabetic. He was admitted to the hospital where doctors allegedly did not take adequate care in providing him proper treatment.

Frustrated with the alleged negligence of the medicos, the old sick man took to begging and sat on a roadside near the hospital. But, he died without getting a single penny.

Ramashray Shao, brother of the deceased said his brother also sat on a 'dharna' to seek financial assistance from the district administration after the ''insensitive behaviour'' of the doctors.

Meanwhile, SDO Navneet Ranjan contributed Rs 1500 for Ramsharan Shao's last rites.
