Opposition would corner UPA Govt on inflation in Parliament says Advani

Indore, Apr 14 : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and leader of opposition L K Advani on Monday lambasted the Congress-led UPA government for its failure to check the rising inflation and said the opposition would corner the government on the issue in the next Parliament session.

"The government has failed to check the rising inflation in the country causing lot of problems to the common man. The prices of essential commodities are increasing continuously," Advani said after unveiling Dr B R Ambedkar's statue in Mhow on his 117th birthday. "The government had promised to check the inflation during the budget session, but it failed to do so at the ground level. The opposition will corner the government on the issue during the next session of parliament," he added.

"Economic development of a country is not judged by the number of billionaires, but from the condition of poor, backwards and dalits," said Advani.

While paying tributes to Ambedkar, Advani said his work, not his caste took him to new heights.

Referring to backwardness of people, he said the country needed an "honest government" which can fulfil the aspirations of common man and asked people to give BJP "an opportunity" (to come power at the Centre).

Advani expressed his happiness and also praised the efforts of the BJP government in the state in completing the Ambedkar memorial project pending for a long time.
