One killed, 11 injured in attack by robbers

Nashik, Apr 14 (UNI) One person was killed and eleven others were injured today, three of them seriously, in an attack by an armed group of robbers on a grocery merchant's house in Kumbharde village of Deola taluka of the district.

About twelve unidentified persons, armed with wooden batons and axe handles, forcibly entered the house of grocery merchant Ramraj Pandey and started attacking the persons present in the house as well as neighbours. The robbers overpowered the inmates and made away with cash of Rs 2,50,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 95,000, police sources said.

In the attack, Anil Ramlakhan Pande,32, died, and eleven others, including neighbours, were seriously injured.

All the injured were admitted to a private hospital in Malegaon.

SP Nikhil Gupta, Malegaon Additional SP Sanjay Patil and other senior officials have reached the spot.

Global price rise: UK Supermarkets for rationing rice

London, Jun 1: The global price rise in the international market has forced some of the major Supermarkets for rationing rice after panic-buying by customers worried about food shortage. However, most of the limits have been introduced in areas of Leicester which have large Asian populations. Retailers including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Lidl have introduced quotas for the staple food, which has increased in price worldwide by 70 per cent in a year.
