Chennai, Apr 14 (UNI) Aspiring athletes will look sharpen their skills at the the annual camp organised by the India Sports Promotion Academy (ISPA) that begins here tomorrow.

The seventh edition of the ISPA-Fitness Foundation Academy (FFAMY) camp would be organised in association with the YMCA College of Physical Education and sponsored by the Indian Overseas Bank.

''The main aim of the camp, in which more than 250 boys and girls would participate, was to acquire the basic level of fitness, as one of the main drawbacks that had been eluding India a medal in Olympics,'' ISPA founder and former National Sprinter Anand R Natarajan told newspersons here.

It would be a camp with a difference, as everything that goes into the programme is based on scientific preparation and execution.

Dr Kannan Pughazhendi, an authority on sports medicine, would assist the trainees in conducting fitness assessments, postural corrections and all problems related to injuries, besides speaking on the ill-effects of doping.

Pughazhendi explained the features of specialised training, one of which was Chinese breathing, an energy conserving exercise, being practised by the Chinese to win more medals in Olympics to be hosted in Beijing this year.

The camp would conclude on May 4.
