Shimla, Apr 14 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to Dr B R Ambedkar at the state-level function by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal at the Bhim Rao Ambedkar Statue at Chaura Maidan here today.
Lauding the contribution made by Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Mr Dhumal said he was great patriot, true Gandhian, an intellectual who worked for the socio-economic upliftment of the down trodden and weaker sections of the society.
''His contributions would be remembered for ages to come as he laid the strong foundation of the biggest democracy in the world,'' he said.
Forest Minister J P Nadda, Horticulture Minister Narender Bragta, local legislator Suresh Bhardwaj, Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Narender Kataria, councillors, leaders from various political parties and prominent citizens of the town also offered their tributes.
