Hisar, Apr 14 (UNI) The Haryana Government has launched an ambitious scheme costing Rs 280 crore for the students belonging to Scheduled Castes for effectively checking the drop out in the schools.
Stating this here today, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that under the scheme, the students from first to 12th standards belonging to these communities would be given a scholarship ranging from Rs 100 to 400 per month.
The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering on the occasion of 117th Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Jayanti organised by BR Ambedkar Sabha.
The Chief Minister said Government would incur a sum of Rs 130 crore to uplift the people belonging to scheduled castes and backward classes during the current financial year.
Mr Hooda said that Ambedkar Mahadhavi Chattervarti Scheme has also been extended to 5,000 students, who would get more than 60 per cent marks in Matriculation and under the scheme, they would be given a sum of Rs 1,000 per month in 10+1 and 10+2.
