President, PM greet Nation on Baisakhi

New Delhi, Apr 13: President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have greeted people on the occasion of Baisakhi today.

In their separate messages they have expressed hope that this festival will bring peace, happiness and prosperity to the people and the Nation. Manmohan Singh has also extended his greetings to the people on Mesadi, Vishu, Vaisakhadi and Bahag Bihu. Vaisakhi or Baisakhi, a seasonal festival popular in the Punjab takes place on the first day of the solar month of Baisakh. Traditionally, the festival was celebrated as the harbinger of happiness and plenty closely connected with harvesting.

The Sikhs everywhere celebrate Baisakhi enthusiastically as birthday anniversary of the Khalsa. Community meals form part of the celebrations.

DDA to hold camp at Rohini

Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said.
