Police recover time bomb in Siliguri

Siliguri, Apr 13: Assam Police on Sunday recovered a time bomb and a packet of explosives from a slum area of Siliguri district of West Bengal.

“Acting on a tip off, police recovered the bomb, fitted with a timer, from a room along with the packet at Gurung Bustee during a raid at around 1:00 am," said Rajesh Yadav, Additional Superintendent of Police. “The bomb disposal squad took away the explosives and the packet to a desolate spot but the nature of the explosives inside the pack was not known," he added. A man, who was living in the room from where the police recovered the bomb, was arrested while three women tenants, staying in the same room for past three months, could not be traced.

This recovery was made just ten days after a bomb blast at Samarnagar area here in which three persons were killed. “We are issuing verification forms for tenants as well as asking people to keep close tab on newcomers in a locality," an official said.
