Infosys Co-Chairman elected as NCAER President

New Delhi, Apr 12: National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER), the country's premier economic research institution, has elected Infosys Technologies Ltd Co-Chairman Nandan M Nilekani as its President. Mr Nilekani, who was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2006, will take over from Bimal Jalan on April 15.

Former RBI governor Bimal Jalan had held this position since 1998 when he succeeded Ratan Tata. He will be the eight President of this premier research institution. Mr Nilekani, who has won many domestic as well as international awards, has served as a member of the sub-committee of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. In 2007, he received the Forbes 'Businessman of the Year' award.

'About 98 per cent of Indian economy is open'
