New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) The two Indians killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan this morning were identified as M P Singh and C Govindaswamy by the Indian government, which condemned ''this latest act of terrorism aimed against its aid and humanitarian programme'' in the embattled nation.
''We regret to announce that in a suicide attack on the road construction project of the Border Roads Organisaton in Afghanistan between 0900 hrs and 0930 hrs this morning, two of our personnel have lost their lives and five others have been injured,'' an External Affairs Ministry release said.
Those injured were identified as Bishram Oroan, Vikram Singh, Muhammad Nazin Khan, Anil Kumar Thampee and Mayaram. Two Afghan project personnel were also wounded, the release added.
Meanwhile, Reuters put the number of Indians killed in the attack at three.
The release said the working party was attacked by a vehicle borne suicide bomber. ''The injured have been moved to Zaranj for medical attention and arrangements are being made for immediate evacuation of the dead bodies and those wounded.'' The ministry conveyed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the terror attack and said ''we are contacting the families of the deceased and wounded. Compensation and insurance for the victims will be disbursed immediately.'' The Indian government reiterated its determination to continue to work with the Afghan people and the government for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Afghanistan and the well-being of its people.
