McGrath trashes sledging ban

New Delhi, Apr 12: Calling the BCCI proposal to ban sledging as unrealistic, former Australian pace spearhead Glenn McGrath today said players should be allowed to exchange words on-field as long as it is within limits.

''Its okay to show aggression and have a bit of chit chat in the middle,'' McGrath told mediapersons here.''But once the match gets over and we leave the field, we are all mates,'' he added. ''Me and Vettori were talking about this last night. We had a bit of a laugh about it.'' Calling the IPL an ''exciting concept'', the 38-year-old said he is eagerly waiting for the lucrative Twenty20 league to start. ''Its an exciting concept,'' McGrath said. ''It gives you an opportunity to play with some of the best players in the world.''

Kumble optimistic about playing good cricket

Chennai, Mar 25: Team India captain Anil Kumble today reiterated that the three-Test series against South Africa would be remembered for good cricket, rather than sledging battles on the field. ''The ICC has not written any letter personally to me, but cricket will be played in the right spirit here, eventhough a healthy banter is always welcome on the cricket field. But what happens on the field must remain on the field,'' he said at a pre-match press conference after team.....
