Insurgency threat to literary Sabha

Kokrajhar, Apr 12 (UNI) Threat from gun totting miscreants today compelled the delegates to abandon the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, the apex literary organization of the Bodos, forcing Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to reschedule his trip.

The intra-fight between the ruling group of Bodos and the Opposition came to the fore in the literary organization last night when armed miscreants asked the delegates to leave the camp.

Their demand was to install their candidate as the new president of the session and it was alleged that the ruling faction was responsible for last night's vandalism. This has created a great sensation in the whole area.

The fratricidal killings between the two factions had lead to the death of more than 25 people in the past one month.

United Nations, Mar 16: The United Nations General Assembly endorsed Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's plan to split the world body's burgeoning peacekeeping department into two units.Persistent in convincing members that the restructuring would raise efficiency, Ban insisted that two units were needed to handle the 18 peacekeeping missions fielding nearly 100,000 soldiers and civilians around the world, mainly in Africa.The plan initially came under criticism because of a possible conflict in reporting lines and because most diplomats believed it was conceived for.....
