Bodo Sahitya Sabha delegate killed in accident

Mangaldai, Apr 12: One member of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha delegation from Sonitpur district was killed and another eleven were injured when their vehicle met with an accident at Lalpul forest gate on National Highway 5 in Assam's Darrang district today.

The delegation, consisting of 13 members and the driver, were from Dhekiajuli and Belsiri areas and returning after participating in the Bodo Sahitya Sabha at Kokrajhar.

The driver, Praneswar Basumatary, died on the spot.

Four of the injured were referred to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, while the rest were treated at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital.

Morigaon (Assam), Dec 7: Eight members of a banned militant outfit have surrendered in Assam. They surrendered militants belonged to the "Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KNLF)." The militants laid down their arms before Major General Chander Prakash of Indian army's Redhorn Division at Jagi road in Morigaon district on Saturday, Dec 6.One of the militants said he was forced to join the outfit against his will. “Actually they (militants) come to the village and held a meeting...and they decreed.....

Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said. The oil produced from Amguri is first trucked to Oil India Ltd (OIL) facility at Moran.....
