BAPL records turnover of Rs 45 cr, up by 80 pc

Kolkata, Apr 12: Bajoria Appliances Pvt Ltd (BAPL), leading domestic kitchen appliances brand, has registered an annual turnover of Rs 45 crore for the fiscal 2007-08, up by 80 per cent from the last fiscal.

Speaking at a press conference here today to announce the company's entry into the modular kitchens segment, BAPL Director Namit Bajoria said, ''The annual turnover of Brand Kutchina in the last fiscal was around Rs 45 crore, up by 80 per cent from 2006-07 which was around Rs 25 crore. The expected turnover for the current fiscal (2008-09) is Rs 75 crore. The company has approximately 35 per cent market share in the eastern region in the chimney segment and around 15 per cent share of the national market.'' He said the company, in its initial years, had focused upon kitchen appliances and accessories only, but was now planning to cover the entire kitchen segment with complete kitchen solutions under a single roof.

Talking about the expansion plans, Mr Bajoria said, ''Our concentration is already strong in eastern region, including West Bengal, Assam, Orissa and Jharkhand. We also have our presence in Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu. We would like to strengthen ourselves in the eastern part and advance towards western and southern India through distributor and dealer network.'' He said the BAPL was a pioneer in introducing innovative technologies in India, adding that the company had imported the latest German technology for its kitchen appliances, including electric chimneys, electric hobs, gas stoves and water purifiers.

CIB committee to submit report on ragging to SC

Chennai, Feb 22: The seven-member expert committee, headed by former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Chief P K Raghavan to find out the means and methods to prevent ragging in college campuses, will submit its report before the Supreme Court in the first week of April.Talking to reporters, after a meeting with parents, students and college management representatives here today, Mr Raghavan said the Committee had visited Guwahati, Kolkata, Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Bhopal and Kochi, where they received some constructive suggestions.....
