35 inmates released after 14 yrs of life-imprisonment

Kannur, Apr 12 (UNI) As many as 35 sentenced, undergoing life-imprisonment, were today released from the Kannur Central Jail following the Kerala Government decision to set free more than 100 prisoners, who have completed 14 years in jail.

The Jail Advisory Board in Kannur issued release orders to 47 life-imprisonment inmates, who have completed 15 to 22 years behind the bars.

Of those who got release orders, seven were already on parol, three were at Chimeni open jail in Kasaragod, one was admitted to a hospital and another was involved in a case during his parol period and could not receive bail.

Orders were issued by the state Government for the release of a total of 104 prisoners from various jails in Kerala.
