2 Indians killed in Afghan suicide attack

Kabul, Apr 12 (UNI) Three persons, including two Indians working for the Border Roads Organisation, were killed and five injured in a suicide attack in the southern province of Nimroz this morning.

Indian officials emphasised that the information was based on preliminary reports and they were still collecting details.

Conflicting reports suggested that there were two simultaneous attacks by suicide bombers while the Taliban claimed it was a combined attack involving a mine explosion and a suicide bombing.

Local authorities confirmed that it was a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) attack. A Corola car driven by a suicide bomber rammed into the Indian workers' vehicle while they were travelling to Delaram.

India is building an over 300 km road between Zeranj and Delaram in the province bordering Pakistan.

The incident happened near Miniar town in the Khash Rud district at around 0900 hrs IST.

The suicide attack also took the life of the Afghan driver of the Indian vehicle and the suicide bomber.
