Shahjahan's dagger auctioned for 1.7 mn pounds

London, Apr 11, 2008 : At 1.7 million pounds the dagger which once belonged to Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor who built the Taj Mahal found a new owner on April 10.

The dagger that was bought by a collector for less than a thousand dollars in the 1960's fetched over three times the predicted price at the fall of the hammer. Most of the action was on the eight banks of telephones, as other bidders in the room gave up at 1.4 million pounds.

Quattrocchi cover up deadlier than the crime: Advani

New Delhi, Feb 26:  Terming the cover up of Bofors scandal as deadlier than the original crime, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior BJP leader L K Advani today said the conduct of the government was 'deceitful, dishonest and gravely damaging to national interests.' Talking to newspersons along with his Rajya Sabha counterpart Jaswant Singh, he alleged that the Congress party was placing its own and its party President Sonia Gandhi's interests above national interest, truth, probity in public.....
