Rupee gains at 39.90 against USD

Mumbai, Apr 11: Rupee today rose by five paise at 39.90 against US Dollar at the opening session from previous close of 39.95 per Dollar on fresh inflows in the domestic forex market. A leading forex dealer said, ''Rupee edged higher this morning as a rising stock market fuelled hopes that foreign capital inflows might pick up, though traders said the prospect of central bank intervention kept a lid on gains.

The Indian unit opened the session on firm note and then after seemed to be fluctuating between 39.90 and 39.96 per Dollar amidst alternate bouts of buying and selling of Dollars in a fairly active inter-bank foreign exchange market, dealers said. The Indian bourses fluctuated higher that also partially kept the Rupee range bounded in the opening trade, dealers added.

Rupee ends flat at 40.34/35 per dollar

Mumbai, July 26: The Rupee today stood range bound for the day and finally closed flat at 40.34/35 per dollar. Surplus cash in the system prompted Reserve bank to buy out dollars keeping the unit rangebound, to contain further appreciation of the currency, said dealers. Rupee started the day weaker at 40.35/36 and touched a high of 40.27 per dollar during the day before ending at 40.34/35 per dollar. Traders said.....
