Islamabad, Apr 11 : Pakistan's Foreign Office has said that there were no international objections to the new government's intention to relax restrictions imposed on erstwhile detained nuclear scientist Dr AQ Khan, because the controversy surrounding his position was over.

"No country has reacted to the foreign minister's statement or has demanded an opportunity to question him, as internationally the AQ Khan issue is a closed chapter," the Daily Times quoted Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq as saying in Islamabad last evening.

Recently Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehood Quereshi had said that the new federal government had lifted restrictions on Dr Khan's movements and the security personnel deployed outside his house had been withdrawn.

Sadiq also said that Pakistan had discussed the allegation made by the Afghan parliamentary affairs minister that Pakistan was dumping nuclear waste in Afghanistan with the Afghan Foreign Office, although he said that the Foreign Office would neither confirm nor comment on the allegation.

He said that Pakistan's disposal of nuclear waste was strictly regulated in accordance with international standards.
