Over Rs one crore for reclaiming land in Sirsa distt

Chandigarh, Apr 11 (UNI) The Haryana Land Reclamation and Development Corporation has initiated a pilot project with a cost of Rs 1.26 crore to reclaim the waterlogged land in Darba Kalan area of Sirsa district.

Giving this information Managing Director of the Corporation, Mr M P Bidlan said that about 900 acres of waterlogged land would be reclaimed in this area. The project was started after getting it approved by the Central Government, he added.

He said the land was between the Sheranwali feeder and Baruwali feeder near Darba Kalan and had been waterlogged for the last 15 to 20 years. He informed that an underground pipeline would be laid to drain out water from this land under the project.

With the drainage of excessive water from the land the fertility of the land could be restored he stated.

The Managing Director said in the first phase of the project about 1200 metres long underground pipeline had already been laid by making available tractor machine, evacuator, dozer machine and other machines in Block No 5. This area had been divided into seven blocks for this purpose, he added.

Bank of Rajasthan annual business increases by 27 pc

Mumbai, Apr 11 (UNI) Bank of Rajasthan (BoR), one of the growing private sector banks in India, today said its annual business has increased by 27 per cent to cross over Rs 21,000 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2008 as against Rs 16,520 crore in the previous fiscal, as per provisional data.
