One killed, twelve injured in separate accidents

Hazaribagh, Apr 11 (UNI) A child was run over and killed by a speedy bus and twelve others were injured, three of them seriously, in separate accidents here today.

Police said twelve people were injured as their vehicle dashed a roadside tree in Muffassil police station area of the district.

All of them were admitted to Sadar hospital and the condition of three of them was critical.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a child was run over by a bus at Charhi Bazar under the same police station area, police added.

REC sees PBT at Rs 1,300cr for FY08

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd today said the provisional financial highlights for the year 2007-08 showed it profit before tax (PBT) increase by 29.22 per cent for to Rs 1,300 crore as against Rs 1,006 crore last year. Its loan sanctions increased 84.55 per cent to Rs 60,764 crore for FY08 as against Rs 32,925 crore a year ago. Loan disbursement increased 18.72 per cent to Rs 16,303 crore during 2007-08.....

India will continue to help Nepalese people

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) India will continue its involvement in Nepal and help the people there consolidate democracy after yesterday's historic elections passed off peacefully, top diplomatic sources said here today. Describing the elections as ''great achievement'' by the Nepalese people, the sources said the issue now would be very different after the initial euphoria. ''Now they can't do without India and we will have to get involved...there will now be concrete issues......

12.2 per cent growth in tourist arrival in 2008

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) The arrival of foreign tourists to India has gone up by 12.2 per cent during the first three months of the current year. As many as 1.65 million tourists visited the country during January-March this year as compared to 1.47 million during the same period last year. HP computer teachers call-off strike

Hamirpur, Apr 11 (UNI) School computer teachers in Himachal Pradesh today called-off their 43-day long strike following an agreement with the state government, which agreed to increase their wages from this financial year. Teachers who have completed three years of service will be given Rs 4,000 per month, those who have completed five years will be given Rs 5,000 and those who have completed over five years of their service will be paid Rs 5,500 per.....

Indian,Lankan fishermen clash

Chennai, Apr 11 (UNI) Six Indian fishermen were injured in a clash with their Lankan counterparts in the mid-sea when the latter illegally entered the Indian waters. Police said the local fishermen, hailing from Kasimedu in North Chennai, detained the ten Lankan fishermen and handed them over to local police today.
