Judge returns petition in CM's case

Puducherry, Apr 11 (UNI) Puducherry Principal District and Sessions Judge D Krishna Raj today returned the petition seeking to file criminal cases against Chief Minister N Rangasamy and two others.

The judge cited certain lapses after perusing the petition and suggested that petitioner Janakiraman Reddiyar could approach the competent authority and returned the petition.

Mr Reddiyar of Koodapakkam had filed the petition before the court seeking to register criminal cases against Mr Rangasamy and two others on charges that they had regularised the services of 96 temporory employees of the office of the council of ministers despite a stay by the Madras High Court.

Even though the Lt Governor had returned the file, Mr Rangasamy along with the then Chief Secretary C S Khairwal and Under-Secretary Kannabiran regularised the service of the temporory staff in spite of the court stay and thereby committed a criminal offence, Mr Reddiyar in his petition charged.

Two arrested in a murder case in Kashmir

Srinagar Apr 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested two persons for murder of a butcher in south Kashmir, a senior police officer said. Superintendent of Police (SP), Kulgam, Swayam Prakash Pani said a case of murder of a butcher was registered in a police station on February 23. 9th triennial convention of MSCNTEC from tomorrow

Nashik, Apr 11 (UNI) The two-day 9th triennial state-level convention of the Maharashtra State College Non-Teaching Employees Confederation (MSCNTEC) will start at the H P T Arts College here from tomorrow. Simlipal sealed for tribal hunters

Baripada, Apr 11 (UNI) The authorities today sealed Simlipal National Park and its sanctuary to protect wildlife from being poached by tribal hunters. Besides, a well-equipped anti-poaching combat, involving locals, was launched to assist the Simlipal Tiger Protection Force(STPF) to keep the poachers at bay. Altogether 311 local youths were recruited from the villages located inside the sanctuary to intensify the anti-poaching operation and ''Mass Hunting Excursion'' by the tribals, scheduled to take place from April.....
