IT and ITeS sector to generate $60 bln by 2010: Nasscom

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) The country's IT and BPO sector is poised to grow at 25 per cent to generate 60 billion dollars of revenue by 2010, NASSCOM chief Som Mittal today said.

The body announced the appointment of its new office bearers with Zensar Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Ganesh Natarajan taking over as NASSCOM Chairman and Genpact President and CEO Pramod Bhasin as Nasscom Vice-Chairman.

The apex body for IT and ITeS will have enhanced focus on the BPO sector and expects the revenue to grow by 33 per cent in FY08, exports to cross 40 billion dollars and domestic market to cross 23 billion dollars.

When asked whether the global slowdown will hurt the profit margins, Mr Natarajan said, ''it will certainly affect the profits, as they will come down by a small percentage but it will not be a long term injury.'' ''Nasscom has identified six underlying themes for the year which will work as vectors for us to plan initiatives and focused programmes around. We believe these themes will help us in charting the way forward and maintaining a steady growth curve for the IT industry,'' Dr Natarajan said.

The six point agenda consists of creativity to encourage innovation in products, processes and business models, community building and collaboration to allow professionals to interact across organisation and geographic barriers.

The other points are adoption of Green IT by encouraging environmental responsibility, reducing e-waste and increasing efficiency.
