New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) India will participate in the Wuxi International Tourism Festival to be held in China next month.
This was conveyed by Tourism Secretary S. Banerjee to Mr. Yang Wei Ze, Party Secretary and the Administrator of the Wuxi city yesterday.
Wuxi is located at the center of China's Yangtze Delta, reaching up north to the Yantze river bounded on the south by lake Taihu, with Shanghai to its east and Nanjing to its west. Wuxi city is a fine tourist attraction known for its natural beauty and one among the top ten tourist destinations in China.
India Tourism opened its office in Beijing, the first in China, two days ago.
During their half-an-hour talks, both the sides showed keen interest in promotion of exchange of tourism related information to increase people-to-people contact between the two countries.
Mr S Banerjee, who was leading the Indian delegation, said people-to-people contact between the two countries would further strengthen the understanding and bilateral relations.
Mr. Yang Wei Ze said India and Wuxi city could promote bilateral tourism to further strengthen the cultural ties between the people of the two countries.
The Indian Delegation visited the Ling Shan Wonderland of Buddhism located in the National Wuxi Lake Taihu Holiday Resort. It features an 88-metre-high bronze statue of Sakyamuni and a tour de force of a grand spectacle of baptism for the new-born Sakyamuni by nine dragons.
