Shimla, Apr 11 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said the state government had taken a policy decision that Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH), Shimla and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC), Tanda would have separate staff cadre.
He said the decision had been taken to ensure the permanent stay of staff, especially doctors and specialists, at the two colleges.
Replying to a question by G S Bali (Congress), Mr Dhumal said as on February 28, this year, the total sanctioned strength of staff in various categories at RPGMC was 936, out of which 431 posts were lying vacant.
He said at present 13 staff nurses of Tanda Medical College were working at IGMCH and Kamla Nehru Hospital at Shimla.
The government was trying to fill up the vacant posts in the medical colleges through appointments and promotions, he said, while replying to a supplementary by Mr Bali who urged the government to fill up the various posts of para-medical staff, class III, class IV and at Tanda Medical College.
Mr Dhumal said the government would shortly come out with a policy on public-private partnership in the health sector so as to strengthen the health services network in the hill state.
He said public-private partnership in the health sector would facilitate the state government requisition of services of specialist doctors from the private sector, wherever needed.
