HP computer teachers call-off strike

Hamirpur, Apr 11 (UNI) School computer teachers in Himachal Pradesh today called-off their 43-day long strike following an agreement with the state government, which agreed to increase their wages from this financial year.

Teachers who have completed three years of service will be given Rs 4,000 per month, those who have completed five years will be given Rs 5,000 and those who have completed over five years of their service will be paid Rs 5,500 per month, Striking Computer Teachers' president Ramesh Dogra told reporters here.

He said besides there would be no interviews for the old teachers and they would not be transferred from their present place of postings.

The state government had also assured 15 days leave to them every year, besides, they would not be victimised for taking part in the strike, Mr Dogra said.

He further said state Education Minister I D Dhiman represented the state government in the talks.

Later, District Deputy Commissioner Nandita Gupta offered juice to teachers, who were on fast unto death at Gandhi Chowk here.

Support withdrawal to Koda govt on appropriate time: Oraon
