Gehlot supports Raj Governor's concern over border lands sale

Jaipur, Apr 11 (UNI) AICC general secretary and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today said Governor Shailendra Kumar Singh's concerns over controversial sale of land in sensitive bordering areas in the state was very much genuine.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Gehlot said he did not want to make undue comments over the Governor's actions and observations but he did certainly agree with his concerns over the issue.

Mr Gehlot said sale of lands in sensitive border areas was a very serious matter having direct implications on our national security.

Mr Gehlot said he had already demanded a CBI probe into the matter but the state government was ignoring his demand. Now the Governor's observations over the issue had vindicated his stand over the issue.

The alleged sale of about 80,000 bigha lands in different bordering districts during a year or two, has been making news headlines in the state for past some months.

The role of a ruling BJP leader's son has also been pointed out by different quarters, including the Opposition Congress.

Different agencies of the Centre and the state government has instituted investigations in the land deals.

The issue has also made its echo in the Rajasthan Assembly during the recently concluded Budget session.

The controversy had taken another twist when the Governor during his tour of border districts last week, had undertaken an unscheduled inspection at the Deputy Registrar's office in Jaisalmer to seek first hand feedback on the controversial land deals and the registrations of the sale deals.

Later during a chat with mediapersons in Barmer, Mr Singh had observed that certain irregularities or lapses were there in the sale of lands in these areas but added that he was still examining the matter.
